Stephen founded Appraisal Host in 2009, in anticipation of the Dodd-Frank rules that created the appraisal management company industry. He writes the articles published here.
Background
Stephen has spent three decades building enterprise systems. He is a graduate of New England Institute of Technology in Computer Engineering, and his career spans Fortune 50 companies, critical infrastructure protection, and regulated industries.
At American Stores Company he led a nationwide technology rollout for the Health n' Home division, coordinating infrastructure, systems integration and operational launch across multiple states. He later ran a technology consulting firm in Southwest Florida as managing partner, delivering custom software to regional businesses.
From 2002 to 2010, at NSTAR and Northeast Utilities, he established the first dedicated IT security program for a major electric utility following 9/11. That work covered multi-layered defense strategy, intrusion detection for SCADA systems, and critical infrastructure protection for power generation and distribution networks. He held the Certified Information Systems Security Professional (CISSP) certification.
When Dodd-Frank took effect and the AMC sector appeared, he partnered with seasoned appraisal industry veterans and built Appraisal Host around the problems they described: manual order routing, compliance tracking, appraiser panel management and client communication. Appraisal Host is privately owned and operated by him, with no venture capital or private equity behind it.
